Butterfly

ThinkPad 701C "Butterfly"

NYC Resistor member Billie Ward donated this amazing laptop that she used back in the 90s.

It won't power up without a battery, which long since died, and it might be a good candidate for a new mainboard. Perhaps the Novena will fit.

Disassembly

The ThinkPad factory service manual has a really nice exploded diagram of how to disassemble the 701C so that all of the parts can be reached.

For access to the battery it is only necessary to release the keyboard, allowing it to flip up against the screen. More photos...
